Learn How to Provide
Safe, Effective, Individualized Trismus Intervention
The ARK-J Program will do its next 3-hour advanced-level webinar on HNC-induced trismus in 2021.
This course is designed to prepare rehabilitation therapists to provide safe, effective, and individualized treatment to adult patients who suffer from speech intelligibility deficits, oral dysphagia, and a diminished quality of life because of head and neck cancer-induced trismus.
We will no longer offer our 2-day, live course. We have decided to make this information more easily accessible to rehabilitation therapists by moving to an online course model with the option of 1-day, hands-on courses for therapists who have taken one of our course webinars and wish to obtain additional training with certification.
Are you providing skilled or unskilled trismus therapy?
Skilled trismus therapy means the clinician uses progressive, safe, and tailored exercise prescriptions, rather than than the general jaw mobility device instructions (7-7-7 or 5-5-30). Anyone can read those general instructions and figure it out without a therapist.
A skilled therapist takes into account the patient's individual needs, as well as the pitfalls and dangers of trismus therapy, uses standardized assessment tools, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
